Noun
- A small flying mammal (bat) of South America which uses its sharp incisor teeth to nick the foot of a large animal (e.g. a cow) while the animal is asleep, allowing it to surreptitiously lap a blood meal. Its saliva contains an anticoagulant to keep the blood flowing during feeding.
