prime number
- A natural number greater than 1 divisible only by itself and 1; a member of the infinite sequence {2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, ...}.
- Every natural number can be uniquely into prime numbers.
Usage Note
Older texts often consider 1 to be a prime number. Modern usage considers 1 to be a unit and not a prime.
