petrolhead (plural petrolheads)

  1. (figurative) A person who is very reliant on and fond of using his or her car and objects to any attempts to dissuade him or her to use alternative means of transport.
  2. (Australian, New Zealand) A member of a wider class of people often known as bogans. A petrolhead lives for his car and enjoys showing it off and making a lot of noise with it. A petrolhead can often be identified by his clothing and general lifestyle.
