Etymology
Supposedly clipped from tytär "daughter" and then adapted to vowel harmony.

- näyttelijä actor -> näyttelijätär actress
Usage notes
- The suffix is appended to the genitive singular stem.
- Nowadays it's uncommon and oldfashioned to use the female forms of professions.
Declension
- The suffix has the form -tar/tär only in the nominative and partitive singular. It has, in other singular cases, the vowel stem -ttare/ttäre-; in plural, it the stem is -ttari/ttäri-. The genitive plural has an alternative form with the suffix -ten, appended to the nominative singular. Kuningatar has the following forms:
